It's great to have nice surroundings, beautiful desk, snazzy files, and plush carpets, but the single most important thing which will affect a person's happiness at work is the task chair. Don't scrimp on this. Lay a door across saw-horses for your desk and your files may be cardboard boxes on the floor, but be sure you have a chair you are comfortable in.
